The effects of lecturers’ non-native accent strength in English on intelligibility and attitudinal evaluations by native and non-native English students

The rapid spread of English medium instruction (EMI) across the globe has led to a growing number non-native lecturers teaching in student populations that are increasingly international. aim present study was investigate what extent with slight or moderate Dutch accents native British evaluated differently terms intelligibility, comprehensibility and attitudinal impressions by English-speaking listeners. In an experiment, 189 listeners, 175 international listeners 158 fragments recorded moderately accented Dutch, slightly speakers. Findings showed were more negatively than both but not This suggests evaluate according speaker pronunciation norms.
